TIRANA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Albania ranked second among the countries whose citizens received European Union (EU) citizenship, with a total number 67,483 in 2016 following Morocco, local media reported on Monday.
The majority of Albanian citizens who became EU citizens in 2016 live in Italy and Greece.
According to the data taken from EUROSTAT in 2016, in Italy a total of 36,920 Albanians became Italian citizens followed by 35,000 Moroccan immigrants.
Meanwhile, in Greece, the statistics declared that a total of 28,548 Albanian immigrants got the EU citizenship.
Other states where Albanian citizens have benefited citizenship are Belgium with 560 cases, Britain with 466 cases and France with 356 cases.
