LONDON, May 22 (Xinhua) -- The city of Manchester marked the one-year anniversary on Tuesday of the terrorist attack which killed 22 people and injured hundreds.

A cathedral service, a minute's silence and a singalong vigil will mark the first anniversary of the Manchester Arena attack. The nation will observe a minute's silence at 2:30 p.m. local time (13:30 GMT).

The attack happened when Salman Abedi detonated a bomb at the end of a concert by U.S. pop singer Ariana Grande on May 22, 2017.

Grande's official Twitter account on Tuesday read: "I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day."

British media said the Duke of Cambridge and Prime Minister Theresa May would join the families of victims and emergency workers who went to their aid.

The Manchester Together With One Voice event takes place in the evening and will bring together choirs from the city and beyond.
