YEREVAN, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Co-Chairs of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will visit Armenia on June 13 to meet with the new leadership of Armenia, said the spokesperson of Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tigran Balayan in a press briefing on Tuesday.

The Co-Chairs of the group, representing France, Russia and the United States, will be meeting Armenia's newly-elected Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for the first time following the recent protests and change of government that took place in Armenia in April and May.

The OSCE Minsk Group was created in 1992 to encourage a peaceful negotiated resolution to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.

On May 15, Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stephane Visconti (France), Andrew Schofer (U.S.) and personal representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk already met with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov, following which they had expressed their hope to meet the new leadership of Armenia soon.

The OSCE Minsk Group has been mediating talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for over two decades. However, a final peace treaty is yet to be reached between the two former Soviet states.
