CANNES, France, April 9 (Xinhua) -- With high quality original content, Chinese TV and digital programs drew the attention of buyers from around the world at MIPTV, a global TV and digital content market, which kicked off on Monday.

According to organizers, MIPTV 2018 gathered over 10,000 professionals of TV and digital entertainment from the globe, including more than 300 Chinese professionals from over 100 companies.

As part of China's continuing global initiatives to develop production opportunities with international partners, the China Pavilion held its "China Showcase" screening to introduce latest Chinese films and TV programs, including TV series, documentaries and cartoons.

The showcase presented 15 programs, including the documentaries "Aerial China", "If Treasures Could Talk", the TV drama "Azaleas in Bloom", and original entertainment programs "The Amazing Magicians."

Shen Jianing, assistant to the president of China International Television Corporation (CITVC) and organizer representative of the China Pavillion, said: "Since 2004, when we first participated in MIPTV as the China Pavilion, our scale has been expanding year by year. This year we are showcasing over 200 brand-new programs and almost 10,000 episodes classics from 34 Chinese companies, the most we have showcased in the past few years."

Many international buyers showed growing interests in Chinese documentaries.

"People know about China and I think to learn more about the culture, the people, technology, I think those are all areas that the audience are interested in," U.S. TV content acquisitor V John Baghdassarian said to Xinhua.

At the event, a medal of honor was given to Yang Weidong, president of China's Youku, Alibaba Digital Media and Entertainment Group.

The global TV and digital content market runs from April 9 to 12 in Cannes.
