LONDON, July 10 (Xinhua) -- 'Manic Monday' did not see many surprises in the fourth round of men's singles action here at Wimbledon as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic bested their opponents to move into the quarterfinals.

But there were upsets for the ladies, with No.7 seed Karolina Pliskova bidding farewell to the tournament after being defeated by Kiki Bertens, which marks the first time ever in Wimbledon's history that none of the top 10 women will reach the quarterfinals.

Roger Federer opened Day 7 at center court amid waves of cheers and claps. The eight-time champion did not disappoint his enthusiastic supporters as he swept 22nd-seeded Adrian Mannarino of France 6-0, 7-5, 6-4 and moved on into his 16th All-England Club quarterfinal. He will next take on No. 8 Kevin Anderson, who went past Gael Monfils for his first Wimbledon quarterfinal.

The center court then welcomed seven-time champion Serena Williams and it took her only an hour to defeat another player who is a mother: Evgeniya Rodina of Russia, who she bested 6-2, 6-2. This is the first time in a year and half that Serena has made it to the last 8 after she gave birth to her daughter.

Serena's chances for her ninth trophy here at Wimbledon are looking up, after Karolina Pliskova, the only top 10 seed left in the fourth round, suffered a 6-3, 7-6 loss to Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands. She will fight unseeded Camila Giorgi of Italy for a place in the semis.

World No. 1 Rafeal Nadal did not receive much of a challenge from Jiri Vesely of Czech Republic as he raced a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win. Nadal is yet to drop a set here this year. With this victory, the King of Clay finally returns to the last 8 at Wimbledon after 7 years. He will face the winner between Juan Del Potro and Gilles Simon.

Three-time champion Novak Djokovic quickly wrapped up his match against Karen Khachanov of Russia 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 before it became too dark. Luckily, he does not need to worry about the light during next round as he will take on Kei Nishikori, the first Japanese to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals since 1995, at the center court.

Besides Nishikori, John Isner also marched into their Wimbledon quarterfinal debut to face Canadian star Milos Raonic on Tuesday.
