WINDHOEK, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Namibia and Ghana highlighted the need to facilitate the finalization and signing of outstanding agreements and Memoranda of Understanding to enable the two countries to proceed to the next stage.

The two countries Wednesday concluded a three-day deliberations during the 3rd session of the Namibia-Ghana Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC), in Windhoek.

Namibia's Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Christine Hoebes said the fruit of their labor culminated in the signing of three agreements, which will serve to strengthen relations.

"The JPCC has formulated various responses to the developmental challenges that Namibia and Ghana are facing. The views and proposals that emerged have illuminated our way to arrive at concrete and achievable strategies and conclusions," she added.

According to Hoebes, the two countries have agreed that their governments have a responsibility to redouble efforts to promote closer cooperation in areas identified as critical.

Speaking at the closing event, Ghana's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Charles Owiredu said the two nations had the opportunity to discuss cooperation arrangements within Economic and Social Committees.

Owiredu said through collective efforts, the two nations must encourage private sector investments in the respective countries and improve trade between the two nations.

Owiredu expressed the hope that the two sides will keep working after this session to conclude outstanding agreements.

The next JPCC will take place in Accra, Ghana in 2021.
