SYDNEY, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Across the weekend police in Western Australia raided almost 50 properties and arrested 10 people in relation to an international drug smuggling syndicate operating in the state.

The 10 people arrested were charged with over 50 offences, while large amounts of cash, narcotics and firearms were seized.

The raids are the consequence of Operation Signal which commenced in August 2018 and has so far netted 75kg of methamphetamine, 10.5kg of heroin, 3kg of cocaine, 2kg of MDMA, 13 firearms and 2.8 million U.S. dollars.

Operation signal is currently targeting up to six international organisations which operate in supplying drugs to Western Australia.

"Serious and organised crime has evolved to the point where it is a borderless crime," Deputy Commissioner Col Blanch said on Tuesday.

"These drugs come from the Eastern States, they come from overseas and in fact West Australians are travelling abroad to source these materials."

The taskforce has utilised relationships with international law enforcement partners such as the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency.

"The message to those who decide to profit from illicit drugs is that we will nominate you on this list, we will work with our partners across Australia and the world, and no matter where you are we will come after you," Blanch said.

"We are not limited by our borders when we work with our partners."
