AMMAN, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Cairo Amman Bank (CAB) Gallery in Amman has brought the Arab world the fifth session of Cairo Amman Bank International Symposium, which started on Wednesday night with participation of artists from around the world.

The most famous international artist participating in the symposium, which has been held regularly for the past five years and will last for one month this year, is Wan Jiyuan from China, according to a statement from the gallery.

The gallery described in the statement that the 66-year-old Chinese artist, who specialized in oil-painting, is an art ambassador of his country with "international art achievement, rich art mission and professionalism in painting and academic performance."

The symposium, which hosts 25 artists from 15 countries this season, opens the horizons for new artists to deal with the Jordanian and Oriental scenes in professional and innovative ways with new visions where international arts meet at one of the international art forums on the global art map.

Wan Jiyuan, who brought three pieces of his work showcasing the famous archaeological site of Petra in Jordan as well as some living scenes of Chinese ordinary people, said that the cultural exchanges between China and Arab countries have been promoted greatly these years.

"I've been to Petra recently where I was extremely shocked by the ancient civilizations there. I've also found signs of cultural exchanges among various civilizations, especially the ancient Silk Road linking the East and the West," Wan said.

According to Wan, every year dozens of Arab artists visit China, where they can see the great changes of China as well as how the Chinese artists are doing their works, and some of them have been to his atelier full of paintings.

"I'm not a stranger here in Jordan, and I don't feel strange about Jordan, either," Wan said, adding that the artists from both countries, as he suggested, could do more for the cultural exchanges between China and Jordan as well as Arab countries.
